The I Blossom Studio's

International Beauty Institutes Feature

Everyone, we are pleased to introduce to you our recent grade, Nicole Haynes.

Nicole studied with us over the last year and is about to open her new beauty business. We hope you find her story as inspiring as we do! Nicole was originally working as a community nurse helping sick kids.

Why did she get into the beauty business and how is she dealing with today’s unique challenges?

From a young age, her mom suffered from hyperpigmentation and acne scars that left a permanent mark on her everyday life. These “imperfections'' she said, not only affected the layers of her mom’s skin but also made her have a low self-image. That’s why her mom’s struggle became Nicole’s life’s mission.

As she was originally working as a community nurse, Nicole knew that she had to get the right knowledge to make the transition to the beauty industry. Hence she joined the IBI family.

Learning Dermarolling, Microneedling, Microdermabrasion, and Chemical Peels she got the foundation to start her own small business. To say opening a beauty business during a pandemic is difficult would be an understatement.

Nicole shares her top 3 challenges she had and how she solved them:

1. Managing the Covid 19 lockdowns

“The best approach I had to handle this ongoing situation is taking it one day at a time. When closed during the lockdown, I focus my attention on areas I would not have as much time in. For example, building a social media platform or advertising.“

2. Building up a clientele

“The best way I tackled this is through offering discounts, giveaways, involving family or friends, implementing a referral discount to all my clients who entered the studio.”

3. Building a social media profile

To solve this challenge, I took the time to preplan my posts, decide on a common theme that plays throughout all my portals, and ensure my information is factual and up-to-date. I stayed true to myself and to the people who came. Your online sites may look pretty but what is going to sell your business is you.”
